China’s shipbuilding output increased by 9% during January to August

During January to August, China completed 26.26M DWT ships, up by 9% y-o-y. New orders for shipbuilding were 49.11M DWT, up by 227.2% y-o-y. By the end of August, total amount of order-in-hand for shipbuilding was 91.47M DWT, up by 26% y-o-y.

During January to August, the output of exported ships was 24.65M DWT, up by 10.9%, total amount of order for exported ships was 44.11M DWT, up by 223.4%. By the end of August, total amount of order-in-hand for exported ships was 81.04M DWT.

During January to August, China’s exported ships accounted for 93.9%, 89.8% and 88.6% of the national shipbuilding completed orders, new orders, and hand-held orders, respectively.
